Teaching English to students whose first language is other than English began at St. Rose over ten years ago with Sister Grace Forker. Each year the program helps over fifty students learn the language and culture of the United States.
This year we assisted people from over fifteen countries including: Mexico, Russia, Georgia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Peru, Romania, Honduras, Moldove, Guatamala, Belarus and China
Fifteen talented dedicated tutors teach students to speak, read, write and understand English, to understand our culture and to share theirs, to find and get better jobs, to help their children in school and to prepare for citizenship and GED testing.
Classes for students 18 years and older are held on Thursday nights 6:30-8:30 PM from mid- September until mid-May in the parish center.
All are welcome!
